Why should I create an account?

Creating a Downdetector Account lets you track your favorite services and receive push notifications when Downdetector detects issues affecting them.

Is a Downdetector Account free?

Yes. You can create a free account to track up to 5 favorite services and receive outage notifications through the Speedtest app.

What are favorites?

Favorites let you follow the services that matter most to you. When one of your favorite services experiences issues, Downdetector can notify you through the Speedtest app.

How many favorites can I have?

Up to 5 favorites on free accounts.

How do I remove a favorite?

Click or tap the star icon for any service to remove it from your Favorites. If the Favorite is not currently visible on the Web, it may have been saved on a different Downdetector site. You can manage and remove all your Favorites from the Accounts page.

How do outage notifications work?

Downdetector can send notifications when your favorite services experience issues. Notifications are delivered through the Downdetector tab within the Speedtest app.

Why am I not receiving notifications?

Check that notifications are enabled for the Speedtest app on your mobile device and that you are signed in with the same account used to save your favorites.

Why do I need the Speedtest app for notifications?

Push notifications currently require the Speedtest app to be installed and notifications enabled on your device.

How many notifications can I receive?

Free accounts:

  • Up to 1 notification per service per day
  • Up to 3 notifications total per day

I forgot my password

Click or tap the "Manage Speedtest Account" button on the "My Account" page. You'll be taken to the Speedtest sign-in screen, where you can select "Forgot password" and follow the instructions to reset it.

My favorites are missing

On Web

Check your Account settings to make sure you are viewing the correct Downdetector country/site, as favorites may have been saved on a different Downdetector site.

On App

All your favorites should be visible in the app. If they are missing, please let us know using the feedback form available at the bottom of any Downdetector website.

Notifications are not working

Please check:

  • that you are signed into the Speedtest app with your Downdetector account
  • the service is added to your favorites
  • and notifications are enabled on your device

How do I delete my account?

Click or tap the "Manage Speedtest Account" button on the "My Account" page. You'll be taken to the Speedtest sign-in screen, where you can select "Delete my account" and follow the instructions.
